Query

Query runs read-only SQL over data Skippr already holds: Iceberg tables from ELT pipelines, and the shared logs, metrics, and traces tables. Use this to inspect warehouse output or observability history without standing up a separate warehouse client.

Status: Preview. You can run SQL, list tables, and describe a table. Stopping a running query is coming soon. Queries always stay inside your account.

Before you start

  • Sign in with skippr-cloud login. See Cloud User Directory.
  • Ensure your policy allows query:ExecuteStatement (or query:Invoke).

Concepts

  • Datalake tables exist only as ELT pipeline outputs. Query cannot create tables.
  • Observability SQL uses the shared otel-logs, otel-metrics, and otel-traces pipelines.
  • You submit SQL through skippr-cloud query; you do not open a warehouse client.

Run a statement

bash
skippr-cloud query execute-statement --sql "SELECT * FROM otel_logs_tail('app', 0, 9999999999999999999)"

Access

  • CLI: skippr-cloud query <operation>
  • Hostname: query.{region}.cloud.skippr.io
  • Auth: Bearer JWT or SigV4 service query
